Fourth Quarter Intramurals (April 8-June 10)
The following is a list of the intramural programs being offered after school at Glenwood Middle School during 4th quarter. After school programs will run from 2:25 to 3:25 PM. We are asking students who wish to participate in a program to pay a fee of $35 per intramural. Students may participate in as many intramural programs as they can fit into their schedule. Checks for intramural fees should be made payable to the Glenwood PTSA. Scholarships are available for those who need them - contact Assistant Principal O'Byrne for more information. Completed forms, with the check attached, should be placed in the drop box on the counter in the front office no later than Wednesday March 27th to insure that the chosen program has a chance to run. Intramural programs cannot
run unless they have at least 10 participants. If you have questions about a specific program, please contact the program sponsor via their school email account. If you have any general intramural questions, please contact Jason Beall (jason_beall@hcpss.org).

This FREE program is all about fun, health, wellness, and lifetime fitness. Sessions will include instruction and participation in the following: Walking, Running, Resistance and Weight Training, Golf, Yoga, Zumba, Jazzercise, The Fitness Lab, Nutritional Snacking, and Much More. Be sure to wear comfortable sneakers and weather appropriate clothing. (After-school program)
Whimsical Animal Sculpture- Mondays sponsored by Laurie Basham (Room 39)
Students will make sculptures with plaster-craft and paint them with bright whimsical colors - based on the folk art of Mexico.

Girls Basketball -Tuesdays sponsored by Dave Ebbe (Gym)
Enhance your skill level ñ improve at lay-ups, free throws, 3-pointers, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defensive positioning, boxing out, and more.~ Learn how to attack the basket, shoot when youíre open, and create scoring opportunities for your teammates.~ Learn how to handle full-court and half-court presses (against both man and zone).~ Learn how to run an effective offense against both man and zone defenses.~ Learn how to play proper man-to-man defense. Learn how to execute effectively on a fast break, among many other things. ~All ability levels are welcome - Limited Spaces Available. This program will end at 4:00. (After-school Program)

Information Regarding Absence Reporting
in additional to monitoring student attendance, schools are being asked to collect more information about the student illness. As part of the Health Department's tracking of Influenza Like Illness in Howard County, schools are required to report numbers of student illness and symptoms.
If your child is absent from school because of illness, please contact the school on the first day of the absence and provide the following information:
* Your child's name
* The date
* Reason for absence

Make up work may be requested every second day of absence. To request make up work you must call the school BEFORE 8:30 am. (All work is to be picked up between 2:30 - 3:30 the same day as requested).
Please note: For our attendance reporting purposes, a signed parent/guardian note with student's name, grade, date(s) of absence and reason will still be required upon the student's return to school.
Late Arrivals
Parents are reminded that school begins at 7:40 am, and students are expected to be in homeroom at that time. Students arriving at 7:40 am or later must be signed in through the Front Office with a parent signature and/or a note.
Information from the Administration Regarding Excused Absences
Mr. Brown and Mrs. O'Byrne have created a form to assist parents in notifying the school about excused absences, early dismissals and late arrivals; the need for a student to go home on a bus other than their regularly assigned bus or walk to the community center or library after school. Please download this easy to use form.
