Orientation for 6th Grade and Newly Enrolled Students and Families, 8/21/2025
Greetings and welcome to the Glenwood Middle School (GMS) community! We are so excited to meet our rising 6th grade and newly enrolled 7th and 8th grade students and families on August 21, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., at our New Student Orientation.

Information for 6th Grade Students and Their Parents/Guardians
When you arrive, parents/guardians will turn right and head to the cafeteria, and 6th grade students will turn left and head to their homeroom teacher’s classroom. Click here to view homerooms, organized by your child’s last name (be sure to look under the “6th grade” portion of the sheet). Staff will be present to assist students in getting to the correct classroom.
While in their homerooms, students will have the opportunity to “walk their schedules” and meet their teachers. They will also receive and practice using their lockers. Although we had hoped to distribute Chromebooks at orientation, they have not yet arrived and will be given to students as soon as they are delivered and inventoried. Additionally, students will have time to engage with their teachers and ask any questions they may have.
While students are in their homeroom, parents/guardians will join us in the cafeteria for a family orientation to Glenwood. Students and parents will finish at approximately the same time. Due to space in the 6th grade hallway, we ask that parents remain in the cafeteria; your children will return to meet you.
Information for Newly Enrolled 7th and 8th Grade Students and Their Parents/Guardians
When you arrive, parents/guardians will turn right and head to the cafeteria. Newly enrolled 7th and 8th grade students will turn left and staff will assist them in heading to the media center.
During the time that students are in the media center, they will attend a welcome session with our two school counselors, Ms. Hoffman and Ms. Nelson. Students will receive their schedules and they will be given a tour of the school. Being that they are not new to middle school, students will have an opportunity to engage with our counselors as they seek to find similarities to their previous middle schools, while also learning new things about Glenwood.
While students are in their welcome session, parents/guardians will join us in the cafeteria for a family orientation to Glenwood. Students and parents will finish at approximately the same time. We ask that parents remain in the cafeteria; your children will return to meet you.
