Frequently Asked Questions about Environmental Conditions at GMS - August 18, 2015
Letter to the Community:
Dear Glenwood Middle School Families,
Welcome to the start of the 2015-16 school year. I am delighted to join the Glenwood Middle School community, and looking forward to a fantastic school year and all the opportunities it will bring. The staff returned this week and are creating many innovative experiences for the students in the coming year. I have met many parents over the summer, and am really looking forward to getting to know and work with our students when school begins on Monday.
Please mark your calendar for Back to School Night on September 9, 2015. This will be an opportunity for you to hear about the outstanding programs at Glenwood MS and connect with your child’s teachers. I hope you all can come out.
I’d also like to thank those of you who attended the community meeting last night. Posted on our website are the reports from Aria Environmental that were discussed at the meeting. For those community members who were unable to attend, we have posted the Frequently Asked Questions flyer regarding the environmental conditions at Glenwood Middle School. I will keep you informed about environmental conditions in the building throughout the school year via our newsletter.
I am committed to communicating and collaborating to ensure that every student thrives at Glenwood Middle School. As part of this commitment, I would like to share with you that during the tour last night, something that appeared to look like mold was discovered in the art classroom behind the sink beneath the backsplash.
Maintenance staff was at the school at 6:00 am today to address the condition. While the substance was not mold, the art room will be thoroughly cleaned by outside contractual industrial hygienists and the countertops will be replaced over the weekend. In addition, every surface within the building will be re-cleaned this weekend.
I appreciate our partnership as we begin this school year, and I look forward to meeting your children on Monday.
Sincerely,
Robert Motley
Principal
