6th Grade Mash-Up, Fall 2024

Wed, 09/25/2024 - 9:54pm
On Wednesday, October 2 (rain date: October 11), 6th graders at GMS and across Howard County will be participating in the 6th Grade Mash Up. This is a day of team building activities to help 6th graders from a variety of elementary school backgrounds come together as one cohesive unit.

During the course of the day, 6th graders will rotate through different team-building stations and activities in order to learn how to communicate, problem-solve, and step out of their ordinary routines with their classmates.

All activities for GMS students will take place at GMS with GMS staff. It is important for you to know that almost all of the activities will take place outdoors, so students should come to school dressed for the weather that day in clothes and shoes that allow for comfortable movement. Additionally, students may want to apply sunscreen at home before coming to school and bring a water bottle to school if they don’t normally do so.

Since these activities happen within the hours of the normal school day, students should arrive and dismiss from school the same way they normally do. Lunch procedures will also take place the same way they normally do, whether your student buys or packs a lunch.

Students will also enjoy a freeze pop treat at the end of the day. If you need to see a list of the freeze pop ingredients or have any questions about the day,  please email Jennifer Janowich at jennifer_janowich@hcpss.org.

The GMS staff is looking forward to a fun day with your students!
