Our fundraising is up from $0 to $6,000 thanks for the efforts of the Harvest Hustle! It did fall short of our $7,000 goal, but $6,000 is still amazing. THANK YOU!
On November 3rd our students and staff wore 50th anniversary tees for an aerial photo to celebrate GMS’s 50th anniversary. The tees were FREE to all students and staff thanks to a PTSA grant and to local businesses who are sponsors of our school this year. Those sponsors helped to raise nearly $3,000 and they are: Help Me Speak, Hillmuth Auto Care, Allan Homes, Advocate Investing, NTT Associates, Nancy Magone (DDS), Buch Construction, Zepp Plumbing, Rutter Project Management, Mount Airy Mattress, Damon Foreman Music Academy, and The Arena. Thank you to these local and family businesses for their generosity!
Did you get a hand cramp from clipping those Box Tops? Well, it’s MUCH appreciated as we collected 3,175 Box Tops which translates to $317.50 for our school. Thank you! And please keep clipping! The next submission date is March. The pink collection bin is located in the cafeteria, so just pack your Box Tops in your student’s lunch and ask them to drop them off. We offer prizes for the most submitted, so please include your student’s name on the baggie.
Another “easy money, no hassle” way for the PTSA to earn money is for you to sign up at www.smileamazon.com This is Amazon’s giving program where a percentage of your eligible purchases is donated to GMS. Just choose Glenwood Middle School (Glenwood MD) from the list of possible charities. Contact Tracey Heller at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need help or have questions.
Membership is up to 116 out of our 444 families. Thank you! Membership is $30 and completely tax deductible. Forms can be found on our PTSA webpage at http://glenwoodptsa.org/how-to-volunteer. Any family who has joined this year before November 17th will be entered into a drawing for a Family Fun Pack to include movie tickets and games. Membership cards can be picked up in the School Store from the volunteer.
WITHIN REACH is this year's PTA Reflection program theme. For 49 years, the nationally-recognized program has encouraged students to explore their creativity and submit works of art in the areas of: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and the visual arts. GMS has a long tradition of submitting excellent pieces, many of which have gone on to win awards at the county and state level. See Ms. Storr for Rules & Entry Form, and return entries to her room. Deadline: Monday, November 24th.
SAVE THE DATE! A winter dance is planned for Friday December 15th from 7pm to 9pm. The PTSA is excited to have the student council involved in the naming of the event, ticket sales, and bake sale at the dance. We’ll have pizza, a DJ, and photo booth. A fun time for everyone!
BE ON THE LOOK OUT for a sign-up to assist the Hospitality Committee in hosting a Conference Night Dinner for staff on November 20th.
